Dave Butner, winemaker, was born and raised in the South Bay area of Los Angeles,California and moved to Washington State in 1984 when there were only 80 wineries in the state. Dave has been working in the IT field for 25+ years and specializes in health care systems.
For as long as he has been old enough to drink it, Dave has had a love for wine. His passion to explore and discover the world of wines eventually led him to desire to learn how it is made. Starting out making wines in his garage and having friends like the results encouraged him to learn and make more. Being a member of the Boeing Winemaking Club gave him access to world class vineyard fruit to work with, and a great group of fellow winemakers to learn from. Dave later enrolled in winemaking classes at the Northwest Wine Academy at South Seattle Community College to further his study of wine. Having honed his skills as an amateur, and winning club awards along the way, Dave is now looking forward to sharing his passion for wines, and the wines he creates, under his own label of Kaella Winery.
Nancy Butner, Super Taster, Controller, Shipping and Compliance Director, was born in Aberdeen Washington and grew up in the Seattle area.· Nancy graduated from Western Washington University and completed her MBA at City University.· She has a career in healthcare and is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator.· Nancy has a love for Cabernet Franc and has tested positive as an official 'Super Taster'.· All Kaella blends must pass the approval of her incomparable palate
